K-Mart came to Casper in the fall of 1964. It was the first big box store to ever grace the oil city. Open seven days a week from 10 A.M. to 10 P.M. Monday through Saturday and Noon to 6 P.M. The Casper store was the 77th in the nation and KATI played a part of the opening with a live broadcast and later the weekly K-Mart Show Live on Sundays from 12:30 P.M. to 4 P.M. The show was hosted by Dave Nutter (Don Steele) from July 1968 to July 1971.
