Bill was being taught to ski by fellow KATI announcer John Shea who was a member of the Casper Mountain Ski Patrol and an excellent skier. The accident occurred on Bill’s second run down Hogadon when he fell and landed on a boulder that was buried under the snow. He unfortunately broke his Femur bone (Largest Bone in your body) about three inches from the hip bone and was laid up for nearly 6-8 months in the hospital and in recuperation. When he did return to the air he had to be on crutches or walk with a cane for a considerable time. He left KATI in about 1970 and returned to Texas.
