Don Claunch was born and raised in Casper and was an announcer for both KATI and KAWY from 1975 to 1978. In addition to announcing his on-air shifts, he trained under the various chief engineers at KATI/KAWY, worked remotes and assisted at live high school sports events. Don moved to KVOC in Casper as an announcer and Chief Engineer in the early 80’s. It was then he decided that with a young family it was time to make a career change and went back to college then worked for a Wall Street firm before becoming a healthcare administrator for the Wyoming Medical Center, a career that lasted 24 years until his retirement in 2013.
Don credits Pat Meenan, Jock Blaney and Larry Wakefield with giving him his start and to this day he meets people that remember him announcing all those years ago. Don, now retired, lives in Casper with Laura, his wife of 40 years.
