“Jolly” George Schell

Announcer 1957-62

“Jolly George” Schell, was an English and Journalism teacher from Natrona County High School beginning in about 1958.  He was also one of the KATI Kave men in the evenings. George was instrumental in bringing some of his NCHS students to the radio station and they later became announcers.  One of those announcers was Mike Wilson, who later when on to major markets like Oklahoma City’s KOMA, Detroit, Toronto and others.

George was tragically killed in a car accident in 1962, when he was driving to the lake, too fast for a VW bug in high Wyoming winds which flipped.
