Jock Blaney
He worked for Mapel for several years before learning of a scholarship to train with Mel Blanc to learn voice acting skills from the Master of voice of the cartoons and commercials. Blaney left for the Hollywood Hills for two years.
He ended up in Casper at KATI in 1974 as an announcer and Production Director for Larry Wakefield and Pat Meenan.. While at KATI, Blaney won a nomination for a CLIO for Best Political Commercial in the country for a spot he wrote and produced with Doc Mueller for Pat Meenan’s 1976 Wyoming State House race. Jock left KATI as the Program Director for KTWO in 1977.
He came to KATI in 1974 and stayed until 1978. His airshows were filled with voices, humor and amazing production skills. In his time there, Jock became a man of a hundred voices and a production wizard. He won a nomination for a prestigious “CLIO Award” in 1975 for a commercial produced for KATI’s owner Pat Meenan. Meenan was a state legislator running for re-election and the commercial, produced with co-worker, Doc Mueller, was advertising Pat’s campaign. Later in his career, Jock went on to win numerous additional “Clio’s” and international broadcast awards for commercials.
Jock left KATI in 1978 for KTWO radio where he was on the air but was primarily their Production Director. While there, he won another CLIO nomination but this time he won and an IBA to boot. Jock’s talents really shined while he was in Casper.
In 1985, Blaney moved on to KTRS and the FM side of the dial where he entertained radio audiences like only Jock can do.
Blaney spent many years in Casper before heading off to the Pacific Northwest and a major market station in Seattle, where he stayed several years before starting own advertising agency. While in Seattle, jock contracted with a number of video game producers to add his numerous voice talents to their games and videos.
Jock currently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the weather is better for golf, and he continues to run his advertising agency and be a major voice talent for numerous national and international clients. His voice is heard on creative works like Johnnie Walker Whiskey (Crossroads) and America’s Test Kitchen on PBS for twenty-one seasons. Blaney has played hundreds of different characters on video games, and virtual reality productions from some of the largest video producers in the world. Jock has also produced three albums of spoken word.
