He apparently worked with Don Hathaway’s radio and television operation until 1956, when he joined Jack Breece and his newly licensed radio station called KATI. In a newspaper article from 1956, Prather is listed as one of the inaugural announcers for the station when it signed on the air on May 4, 1956. Ken Prather, his wife, Misha Prather and a third buyer, Pathrick H.. Meenan, bought KATI radio in 1957. The Prather’s, as majority owners of KATI, continued to operate the facility until 1961 when they sold the station to Meenan outright. They went to Boulder, Colorado, to start another station there (KDEY-AM), also called Katy, that went on the air in 1962-63.
Ken’s Theme song was a Henry Mancini piece called “Timothy.” A video of the song is shown below.

KATI Signs On the air
KATI Signs on air at Noon on May 5th, 1956. Original owner was Jack Breese, from Lander. He later sold the station to Ken & Misha Prather & Patrick H Meenan in 1957.
