Free For All
KATI’s “Free For All” had it’s origins in the early years of the station. Misha Prather, Co-Owner of KATI, had a mid-day hour long program where she interviewed businessmen, politicians, civic leaders and individuals. The station was always geared to being tied into the community, with Free For All and the program ran for over a quarter of a century. It’s hosts included people like MIsha Prather, Bill Sims, Larry Wakefield, Pat Meenan, Doc Mueller, Bob Coleman and even Chuck Harkins for a time. Always in the public interest and most of the program before the internet was even a twinkle in someone’s eye. Enjoy these segments of “Free For All.”

KATI News & Special Events
KATI’s News and Special Events programming was something the owners and management was always proud of. From the very first day of broadcasting on May 5, 1956, KATI’s broadcast day always included numerous local and national newscasts. It was called many things over the years; KATI “Action News,” KATI “Total News,” the KATI “I-Spy Action News,” and many more.
The stations dedication to news was in KATI’s DNA. In 2009, Shirley Meenan wrote: The station was always geared to being tied into the community, with Free For All, “I Spy” where instant news was available, “The Doggone Report” where many a misplaced animal was reunited with a grateful owner, news and guest announcers from the two schools, sports events, Trooper programs, Dr. Dial, editorials, legislative reports, etc. It was always a battle to keep the Top 40 feel with all these features, but Pat wanted it to be a community asset and not just a juke-box with a thermometer attached.

KATI Editorial Comment
As part of KATI’s involvement with the “Mid-Wyoming” community, the station’s ownership and management would produce Editorial Comments, including Guest Commentary. Pat Meenan, former Casper Mayor and Wyoming State Legislator, was politically connected to his community and when he saw something he thought needed corrected or congratulated he or his management went on the air. Here are a selection of KATI “Editorial Comments” that aired through the years.
